Our mission at Incenergy is to apply innovation to the endpoints of the grid; adding logic, awareness and management to the consumption side of the electric grid equation. Beyond building more generation capacity, for example through constructing new power plants, there is vast room for improvement in the way we consume electricity. Before we can make the Grid Smarter, we have to make ourselves smarter.
Incenergy has been a longtime supporter and technology integration partner of Department of Energy funded Pecan Street. For more information on the Pecan Street Smart Grid agenda, check out the Pecan Street Website. To date, Incenergy has deployed the Phase 1 baseline energy data study monitoring equipment to 100+ residences in the Mueller Development. We are now engaged with the Phase 2 study (Doris Duke) to install energy monitoring equipment in another 100 homes throughout Austin. In parallel with this effort, we have brought water meter, gas meter and electric meter reads into the study data.
Data Explosion…..
Pecan Street requires 15 second granularity interval data across 8 circuits. We are delivering over 2.5 million rows of unique data daily to the UT Advanced Computing Center for further research. This supply of data is over 60 times more granular than any other Smart Grid study, currently or previously deployed in the U.S.. Incenergy will continue to support and maintain these installations so that Pecan Street receives data from over 200 homes for over a year. Outside of deploying these systems, we have also played a role in evaluating various technology types that have been of interest to Pecan Street.
