Incenergy Team Members

Chief Executive Officer

Barry McConachie has over 25 years of business development experience, building and managing software, renewable energy, data communications and wireless technology companies. In 2009 he founded Incenergy to develop affordable energy management retrofit software solutions for the commercial building market. As founder and CEO, Barry leads the company in innovating economical, wireless, mobile energy efficiency products that achieve dramatic energy reductions in commercial buildings; and accelerate the evolution of the Smart Grid to the Smart Building.

Earlier, in 2007, recognizing the need for mitigating climate change, Barry formed Global Climate Strategies, turning his strategic insights to developing carbon reduction projects and software in energy efficiency, bio-power, biogas, transportation and forestry projects in the US and Latin America. Previously, as founder and CEO, Barry grew Multimedia Development Corporation into a leader in Internet data provisioning systems and Voice Over Internet, serving major telecom companies such as MCI Telecom, Worldcom, Samsung, Southwestern Bell Corporation and Tecnet. After leading MMD in a merger with Dallas-based DSL equipment provider Efficient Networks, Barry successfully turned the strategic focus of Efficient Networks from low-margin hardware sales to higher value systems and software products. He was then instrumental in the $1.5 billion dollar acquisition of Efficient Networks by Siemens, where he was appointed vice president and general manager of Service Management.

Barry is married with 3 children and lives beside beautiful Lake Austin. From there he has a carbon neutral commute in his electric vehicle.

In addition to process design, he was the program manager for the deployments of the Pecan Street Project and managed all of our third party vendor and technology relations.

Before Incenergy Jeff was co-founder of Global Climate Strategies (GCS) with Barry McConachie. GCS focused on energy efficiency and carbon sequestration methodologies both domestically and internationally. He is an expert in carbon project origination, energy efficiency software and waste-to-energy, and he worked with the UNFCCC to create standardized carbon calculation methodologies.  Jeff led GCS to become the first entity in the world to be validated via the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) using the CDM methodology for energy efficient lighting.

Jeff came to Incenergy with over 18 years of executive sales, marketing, origination and operations experience ranging from magazine publishing to start up software companies. He started his career in the New York City publishing industry and soon joined the technology revolution, managing sales for a software startup in Chicago. After building a national consulting organization, Jeff returned to his home state of Texas to continue working in technology. SHAZAM!

Strategic Partnership Manager

A fifth-generation Texan, Sandra has been blessed by the healthy real estate markets of Austin and Houston, two gorgeous daughters, and a new son. Having studied International Business and Multimedia Design at Saint Edward’s University, Sandra's love for real estate led her to a career spanning well over a decade representing the luxury market with Turnquist Partners, McVaugh Custom Homes, Buffington Homes, and providing commercial construction services to the financial and medical sectors.

In 2012, Sandra took the bold leap and followed her heart into changing the world, one building at a time. Sandra is a five-time MS-150 cyclist, is active in IFMA, AAFAME, and the Austin Chamber.

Justin Manuel

Software Test Engineer

Justin Manuel's deep fascination with renewable energy and automation technologies has led him to his work with Incenergy as a software tester. At Incenergy, Justin is responsible for verifying software quality and device functionality. He also assists the development team with the integration of new devices.

After commuting to Austin from Copperas Cove, TX to study solar design and installation, Justin decided to make the move to Austin, TX in March of 2010. Using various open source technologies, he began developing a suite of marine automation tools capable of monitoring battery levels, rate of solar charge, and autopilot using paths imported from Google Earth. These tools are used on his electric canoe-maran that he built for testing and river exploration. The skills he acquired with this project and his involvement with Austin's solar community allowed him to discover opportunities with Incenergy.

In his free time, Justin is a devout outdoorsman, a Python/Arduino programmer, and he does vocals/guitar/mandolin for a folk three piece. He lives with his girlfriend whom he's known since childhood and his dog that he adopted from Austin Pets Alive.

Installation Manager

Jody is a 20 year retired U.S. Navy veteran where he served as a submarine mechanic focusing on atmosphere control, HVAC, and refrigeration. Since the Navy, Jody has worked on off offshore/marine, commercial, and industrial HVAC equipment as a technician and has joined Incenergy as Installation and Project Manager.

Jody is a native Texan and has come home to the Austin area where he lives in Round Rock with his family. He was drawn to Incenergy after working closely with Barry and his team on several occasions. The drive and the interest of the company and employees seem to be a perfect match for Jody’s work ethic and he is very proud to be part of this team.

Software and Hardware QA

Mars joined Incenergy in late 2013.  He initially moved to Austin with an aim to immerse himself in the musical landscape, but quickly found he was more taken in by the city's innovative approach to technology and the creative solutions that can be achieved with some gall, grease, and gumption.

He is currently pursuing a degree in engineering, and between his coursework and his role at Incenergy, he is delighted to have the opportunity to fill the compartments of his grey matter with such colorful information.

It should be noted that despite his schedule, his passion for music has not dwindled; he still performs regularly as a multi-instrumentalist in Borrisokane, a vocalist for the Austin City Dolls, and as the one-man-band Honey Son.

Energy Data Analyst

Yue (Chris) Dai serves as the energy data analyst for Incenergy. His major responsibility there is to tell the “energy saving potential” story from electricity and gas consumption data through conducting energy consumption modeling, energy monitoring model with weather normalization, occupancy normalization as well as develop energy assessment reports for potential and current customers. Number crunching is Chris’s hobby because he strongly believes knowing the “energy numerical story” is the foundation of having the bigger picture of energy industry. His career goal is to become the energy expert who is able to to let customers know how they can best use Incenergy’s technology to their advantage.

Before joining Incenergy team, Chris got his master’s degree from the Energy and Earth Resources program at UT Austin with a focus on energy project modeling. He had working experience in Lawrence Berkeley National Lab as well as The Butler Law Firm as their energy project financial analyst. He is originally from Beijing, China, a country really needing to save energy and reduce emissions. He has an engineering background in China with a focus on industrial energy. Four years engineering study let him know that by just knowing how technology works is not enough, so he chooses to study in the U.S.

Chris likes to enjoy the good weather in Austin, he likes sitting in Mozart Coffee and reading on the weekend. Also he is very into “muscle buildings”, listening to rock music and working out has become his daily routine after work.
